Hungarian hotel chain Danubius, which operates three hotels in Romania"s Sovata, posted an operating profit of 11.77 million EUR in the second quarter, down by 10% from the same period last year, according to Thomson Financial.
By segment, operating profit at the Hungarian business fell 29% to 5.09 million EUR, while it rose in the Czech operation by 22% to 1.27 million EUR and turned around in Romania to a 378,000 EUR profit from a year-earlier 23,000 EUR loss. Sales increased to 50.61 million EUR from50.59 million EUR as occupancy rates rose to 71.1% from 70.1%.
Danubius Hotels Group operates 23 hotels in Hungary, 8 hotels in the Czech Republic, 12 units in Slovakia and one in the UK. The group"s Romanian portfolio consists of the hotels Sovata, Faget and Bradet. Salina Invest, controled by Danubius Hotels, holds 93.98% in Balneoclimaterica Sovata.
