Romanians spend an average of 70-80 RON per month for telephony, Internet and television services, according to a survey made by Digital Cable Systems (DCS). The amount is much lower than the 60-80 EUR spent by Western European households every month for such services. According to DCS, the 70-80 RON spent by the average Romanian household is equal to approximately 8% of the average household budget in Romania.
"Romania remains a price-driven market for all categories of telecommunications services and products. However, we have noted for the past year that the expectations of the customers have increased in terms of service quality and complexity. Although certain types of services, such as mobile telephony, have a penetration rate in excess of 100%, the Romanian market still has an elevated growth potential for telephony, Internet and television services," said DCS CEO Dinu Malacopol.
According to the data obtained by the company, at least 60% of the households in Romania have cable or direct-to-home television services, 25% have Internet access, whereas 25% have fixed telephony services. Of these types of services, the Internet segment still has the largest growth potential, with estimated annual rates above 10%.
Digital Cable Systems estimates that 3P services will also grow by at least 10%, leading to an increase in the weight of integrated service packages within the overall portfolio of telecommunication services offered by the companies operating on the Romanian market.
