Despite Higher Temperatures, E.ON Gaz Romania Posts 10% Profit Increase

E.ON Gaz Romania reported 1.268 billion RON (396 million EUR) in turnover for the first half of the year, down by 12% year-on-year amid a lower demand for natural gas caused by higher temperatures in the respective period.

E.ON Gaz Romania concluded H1 with a net profit of 116 million RON (36.25 million EUR), up by 10% year-on-year, as a result of measures taken to reduce production costs and improve receivables management / bill collection.

At the end of the year, the company will have gas stocks of 970 million cubic meters, up two times from 2005. At the end of July, stocks amounted to nearly 900 million cubic meters worth some 550 million RON (172 million EUR).

In terms of investments, the company will rehabilitate 40% of the natural gas distribution network in the next few years and has slated 600 million RON (176 million EUR) for this purpose until 2009. Last year, the company upgraded over 420 kilometers of pipes and junctions. Investments budgeted for this year amount to 170 million RON, up two times from 2006.
