The Fraud Squad (GF) and the National Customs Authority (ANV) will be disbanded, and their functions will be taken over by the National Tax Administration Agency (ANAF), according to a draft bill published on the website of the Ministry of Public Finance (MFP). As part of the new structure of the institution, the number of staff positions will be cut by almost 5,000, to 29,100. "The ANAF will be reorganized by assuming the functions of the ANV and the Fraud Squad and will function as a specialized body of the central public administration, and will be a public institution with juridical personality, subordinated to the Ministry of Public Finance, and funded from budget as well as from its own revenue sources", Agerpres informs. The restructuring will also involve the merger of organizational structures with similar functions of the ANAF, the ANV and the Fraud Squad, namely offices such as public audit, investments and public procurement, professional training, IT services, communication and public relations and international cooperation. Following the reorganization 90 executive director and 84 deputy executive director will be eliminated.
The objectives of the new structure are to achieve the revenues of the general consolidated budget from taxes, social contributions and from any other amounts, the unified application of the fiscal legislation, the constant increase of the efficiency of tax collection, ensuring the confidence of taxpayers in the integrity and the impartiality of the fiscal administration and the prevention of tax evasion and fraud.
