The negotiations with the Chinese party for the building of a new steam power plant in Rovinari are advanced, the investors representatives are to come in Romania in the immediate period, stated the deputy prime minister Liviu Dragnea at the end of his visit in China. The construction of Rovinari steam power plant, with a new 500 MW power group, was included in the Government National Investments Plan last summer. The auction for the project was won by China Huadian Engineering, and the investment is evaluated at about a billion dollars

According to Mediafax, Dragnea referred also to the Tarniţa-Lăpuşteşti hydro power project, assessed at over EUR 1.1 billion, asserting that all the companies he discussed with are interested in this project which is very good for Romania, because "there will be competition". The managing director of the project company for the building of the Tarniţa-Lăpuşteşti hydro power (Cluj county) signed a letter of comfort for that purpose with the senior vice president of Sinohydro Corporation.

The existing problems and barriers in the negotiations between Romania and the Chinese companies that want to prepare the energy and infrastructure projects have been solved after the meeting with the Chinese Vice Prime Minister, Zhang Gaoli, stated Liviu Dragnea, at the end of the visit in China, mentioning that he has huge expectations that all the projects even those that showed certain barriers, would go into a good direction.

He has also made reference to his correspondent intervention at the National Commission for Reform and Development of China for the completion and signature of the agreement related to the construction of Bucharest-Constanta high-speed railway and Bucharest railway junction revamping for the circulation of high-speed trains, and to the involvement of some Chinese financial companies to support the investments in Romania, as well as to the Chinese companies giving up the bonds on the part of the Romanian state.
