Israeli-based defense company Elbit Systems Ltd. has secured two contracts worth some 55 million USD with the governments of Slovenia and Romania to supply electronic equipment to be mounted on armored personnel carriers, Bloomberg reports.
Slovenia ordered electronic equipment for 135 APC supplied by Patria AMV - Finland. The contract will unfold over four years and is worth 40 million USD. The second contract, signed with Romania, involves the delivery of similar equipment for APCs of the type Piranha III bought from Mowag GmbH, a division of General Dynamics Corp. The three-year contract is worth 15 million USD.
According to an announcement to the Tel Aviv Stock Exchange, the Romanian contract will be executed through the company"s branch in Romania, Elmet International SRL, in cooperation with the local company Pro-Optica SA.
Elbit has secured a total of five defense contracts worth 306 million USD in the last month. The other three are: 37 million USD for helicopter-mounted optical-electronic surveillance systems and 25 million USD for two contracts to upgrade helicopters for the Romanian Air Force and Navy in partnership with IAR - Brasov.
