The auction to supply the necessary electric energy for the Iasi Public Transportation Authority trams, car barns, dispatch and kiosks was won by "Tinmar", this company"s offer being chosen over that of "E.ON Moldova". "The auction"s specification documentation was bought by ten companies, but only two offers were presented. We chose "Tinmar", especially because of the 30% margin of used energy, compared to the 10% margin of E.On Moldova. The contract to be signed with Tinmar stipulates the supply, as well as the distribution of electric energy. We didn"t necessarily intend to change suppliers, only to buy electric energy at a more convenient price", said Marcel Gherca, the general manager of RATP Iasi. The winning company will supply at least 8,000 Mwh of electric energy, with a possibility of extension to 14,000 Mwh.
The Iasi Public Transportation Authority, as an eligible consumer, decided to resume to an auction in order to buy the necessary electric energy, hoping for a decrease in electric energy costs. This represents RATP"s most important expense, in spite of the fact that in the past years the authority invested considerable amounts of money in modifying the electric energy transformer, from 825 volts, to 600 volts, thus reducing consumption. Costs, on the other hand, have increased by 14%, as a consequence of supplier E.On Moldova raising its prices.
