The Congress of the European People's Party (EPP), which will take place before next year's European Parliament elections, will take place in Bucharest, announced Nicolae Ciucă, the president of the PNL.

"The PPE decision to organize its most important meeting in Bucharest shows the trust enjoyed by the National Liberal Party and President Klaus Iohannis within the largest European political family. The choice of Romania represents a message of support and solidarity for all the states of Central and Eastern Europe, which made special efforts in the context of the invasion of Ukraine by the Russian army. The main objective of the congress in Bucharest will be the adoption of the EPP strategy for the European parliamentary elections", declared Nicolae Ciucă.

Next year's event will be attended by over 2,000 delegates from over 40 countries, including all the heads of state and government and party presidents from the EPP, along with the president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, the president of the European Parliament , Roberta Metsola, as well as all the European Commissioners who are part of the political family of the European People.

"By organizing this Congress, PNL will provide a framework for pro-European debate. I am convinced that all the decisions we will take in Bucharest will contribute to winning the European Parliament elections, which will strengthen the EPP as the main political force for the next 5 years", added PNL MEP Siegfried Mureşan, vice-president of the European People's Party.

It is expected that the EPP leader who will occupy the position of spitzenkandidat for the European Parliament and who would become, if the European populists will hold the most mandates, the president of the future composition of the European Commission will be voted at that congress.
