Eternit fiber-cement products have entered the Romanian building materials market as an alternative to products with an impact on the environment, according to a press release from Eternit Distributie SRL. As the marketing and utilization of asbestos-based products is prohibited as of January 1st, 2007, the introduction of fiber-cement is a reliable alternative to builders.

"This environmentally-friendly material, patented in 1903 as Eternit, has changed the practice of roof building. The greatest innovation in the history of Eternit determined, as of 1993, the most spectacular evolution in roof building - fiber-cement - an environmentally friendly composite cement based on Portland cement and reinforced with natural fiber.

"Builders prefer Eternit roofs and facades for residential and industrial buildings alike. Eternit tiles are light-weight, rigid, resistant to frost, heat and bad weather, are fire-proof and easily workable," said Adrian Albulet, the GM of Eternit Distributie SRL.
