The State Assets Resolution Authority (AVAS) has taken note of the constestation filed by Eurocopter SAS - France against their exclusion from the privatization of IAR - Ghimbav. The French manufacturer is asking AVAS to reconsider the documentation they submitted and accept them in the privatization procedure.
AVAS promised to provide a response as soon as possible. Eurocopter is the only entity that submitted the required documentation by the deadline of December 14th, 2006. On April 20th, the Privatization Commission returned the technical offer and financial bid in the original, sealed, envelopes and the original counterpart of the letter of banking guarantee to Eurocopter.
IAR operations will be frozen in the morning of May 7th, 2007 as the trade union will go on strike following the failure to reach a satisfactory conclusion to the matter of the severance to be granted to employees in case of lay-offs.
The union believes AVAS is to blame for the situation as they have been refusing to respond to their correspondence for months. The trade union is asking for severance equal to 20 salaries for those under 35 years of age, 30 salaries for those between 35 and 45 years of age and 40 salaries for those aged over 45.
