The industrial output of the EU 15 decreased by 1.9% in May 2008 compared to April 2008. The same indicator decreased by 1.4% for the EU 27, according to an Eurostat press release. The industrial output decreased by 0.6% in the Euro Zone and by 0.5% in the Euro 27 Zone in the same interval. Ireland, Bulgaria and Romania are the only EU members that posted an increase in the industrial output in the given period, as follows: Ireland - 13.3%, Bulgaria - 3.3% and Romania - 0.5%. Lithuania suffered the most serious drop - 7.5%, followed by Holland - 6%, Portugal - 5.7% and Latvia - 5.6%. Compared to May 2007, Romania placed sixth in terms of industrial output growth with 4.1%, after Ireland with 9.2%, Bulgaria - 8.6%, Denmark - 7.4%, The Czech Republic - 5.2% and Finland with 4.3%. Latvia and Estonia suffered the most serious setbacks: 8.1% and 6.7%. The indicator recessed 0.5% at EU level and 0.6% in the Euro Zone.
