EVEN THOUGH THEY ARE A MINORITY IN THE PARLIAMENT, Liberals file a motion of no confidence against the government, banking on popular support

• PNL wants the dissolution of the ministries led by Udrea and Ridzi and proposes a government with just 12 ministries

The National Liberal Party (PNL) is preparing a bill for cutting public expenses, Crin Antonescu said yesterday in a press conference.

Crin Antonescu explained: "This bill could very well be called the . The motion does not come from us or from the opposition in the Parliament, but rather it is meant to express the opposition of the public. We want to make this motion a public initiative of the citizens. Once the people start signing our bill, we"ll see how valid the 70% majority that the government has in the Parliament really is".

In turn, senator Varujan Vosganian said that a vote of no confidence, backed by "the might of the public", can defeat the complicity of the two governing parties, and a good moment for presenting such a bill would be the presidential elections.

On the other hand, Crin Antonescu challenges the behavior of Traian Băsescu, and of Prime Minister Emil Boc, who idly sit by and watch the Ministries of Sports and of the Environment get investigated.

"Neither Traian Băsescu, nor Emil Boc, dare take any steps in these two cases, not even comment on them, and they speak of these issues as if they were internal party affairs, rather than serious issues that affect the entire government", said the chairman of the Liberal Party.

The two ministries that are being investigated should not even exist, Crin Antonescu, who opines that in the future, the government should have no more than 12 ministries.

According to liberals, the 130 currently existing public agencies, should be pared down to just 65.

Varujan Vosganian added that the Ministry of Youth and Sports was created just to "help the electoral campaign of the president"s daughter", and the Ministry of Tourism, created especially for Elena Udrea, should be dissolved.
