• "We want the SIFs to remain active and to develop"
• "I am the supporter of natural changes"
Reporter: You took over the management of SIF1 Banat Crişana after Mr. Ioan Cuzman surprisingly announced his retirement. How should this change, taking place at this time, be construed?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: The retirement of Mr. Cuzman was a unilateral act of will which he did at the moment he thought was appropriate.
I can only thank the Board of Directors for the confidence they gave me and for electing me unanimously as President - CEO.
Reporter: In summer, there was talk about an attempt to overthrow Mr. Ioan Cuzman from the helm of SIF1. There was talk that you had an agreement in that regard with some of the shareholders, but that you eventually decided to cut a deal with Ioan Cuzman, to support him until the end of the term (next year), only for him to then "give up" his seat. What is true and what isn't in this scenario?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: I don't know what "there was talk" means.
What I can say is that I am the supporter of natural changes, based on the options of the shareholders expressed at the time of the expiration of the directors' mandates.
Forced changes of management, which consume resources and energy on both sides, are not beneficial for society first of all.
Reporter: Do you have the support of the shareholders for maintaining the management of SIF1?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: The shareholders' support is expressed in the General Shareholder Meeting, concerning the Board of Directors. They in turn elect a President who also serves as CEO and who represents the company.
Reporter: Do you have a different vision about the future of SIF1 Banat-Crişana than that of Mr. Cuzman?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: I don't think it's different, it's just more nuanced.
But we are both supporters of the domestic equity, and we want the SIFs to remain active and to develop in that regard.
Reporter: What are the main complaints concerning the management of Mr. Cuzman and what will be the first changes we will see at SIF1 under your management? What are the prospects of SIF1 Banat Crişana? Does your vision include promoting the development of the SIF or rather, a breaking apart and piece-by-piece sale of its assets?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: We are not looking for a controlled liquidation at SIF1, but rather a sustainable and durable development based on a defined period to restructure the portfolios and the capitalization of profits, and this is what my proposal to the Board of Directors will concern.
Reporter: Mr. Ioan Cuzman talked about moving the headquarters of SIF Banat Crişana to Bucharest. Are you considering such a move? Are you planning a restructuring of the employees of the SIF?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: I don't remember if Mr. Cuzman spoke about such a relocation or answered a question. What I can tell you is that so far no such option was discussed, and I don't intend to propose such a relocation.
It is premature to speak of a restructuring of the employees. There will be a period of evaluation and analysis, and then the proposal of a strategy by the Board of Directors and by the shareholders, and afterwards we will determine what kind of personnel resources are needed for the implementation of that strategy.
Reporter: The press of Arad claimed there were also political factors behind the shift of power at SIF1. How would you comment on that?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: I did not have the opportunity to read the article in question. So I don't know what to comment about that.
Reporter: Do you have any investments on the stock market?
Dragoş Bîlteanu: I personally don't have any investments on the stock market. If you are referring to Romenergo, where I was CEO, it does not have any other investments on the stock market.
Reporter: Thank you!
Dragoş Bîlteanu: Thank you too and I wish you the best of luck!
