The National Highway and National Road Company (CNADNR) has begun the procedures for the expropriation of lands with a total area of over 681.923 square meters, for the construction of the Timişoara - Lugoj road segment. CNADNR will pay an estimated amount of more than 22 million lei as compensation. The 247 plots of land belong to various individual owners as well as several local councils of Ghizela, Remetea Mare and Giarmata of the County of Timiş. Funding will come from the state budget, through the Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure, and European convergence grants. The Ministry will deliver the amount needed for the compensation, within at most 30 days from the submission of the request, into a bank account opened by CNADNR. According to the feasibility study, a total of 1035 buildings (buildings and lands), with a total surface of 2,706,900 square meters will be expropriated. The construction will cost an estimate 359 million Euros, coming from the Transportation Sectorial Operational Program. At the same time, the expropriation procedure was launched for privately owned buildings to allow the construction of Arad Timişoara road segment.
