Liviu Turdean, the CEO of Farmec - Cluj Napoca, Romania"s leading cosmetics company, has stepped down after 40 years in the cosmetics industry. As of January 2009, Farmec will be run by Mihaela Turdean. Appointed to this position in May 1968, Liviu Turdean celebrated 40 years with Farmec in 2008, thus becoming the oldest CEO in Romania.

Turdean became the CEO of Flacara at the age of 33. Later on, the company was renamed to Farmec. From 40 employees and some 20 cosmetic products in 1968, Farmec has grown to become Romania"s largest cosmetic factory, with 600 employees and over 400 products. Turdan"s history with the company includes some historical milestones, such as Professor Ana Aslan"s decision to entrust Farmec with the development of her invention, the Gerovital H3 cream in 1968. Today, Gerovital products are known worldwide and have been won numerous awards.

Farmec"s latest financial results include a turnover of 90 million RON at the end of December 2008, up by 22% from 2007, despite the generally difficult market conditions. The Farmec products, distributed via a proprietary distribution network, have remained among the most popular with Romanian consumers. In terms of volume, Farmec is market leader on many segments of the dermatological and cosmetic market, especially due to the product ranges Gerovital, Aslavital and Farmec.
