FOR 2009, "Agrosel" predicts a 5% increase in turnover

Turnover of "Agrosel", a company specializing in supplying farmers with seeds, reached EUR 5 million in 2008. For this year, Szell Alexandru, general manager of SC "Agrosel", expects a 3-5% turnover increase, and a 25% increase in sales.

"We have taken all the necessary measures to get through this year. We have rethought our sales policies. We have prepared area representatives to get closer to our customers, in order to reach our customers, by presenting them directly each product, be it for gardening or large scale agriculture", said Szell Alexandru.

He added: "Our interest in supplying farmers with high quality, high yield seeds began in 1998 and it remains constant. We are certain that we can only keep our high standards can expanding our product range, innovation and performance. We are very careful when it comes to the germination and purity of the seeds we sell, and we test them ourselves in our own laboratories".

• Over 1,000 types of seeds

"Agrosel" sold over 5 million kg of seeds and plants in Romania as well as abroad (Bulgaria), Republic of Moldova, and Hungary. The company"s portfolio includes over 1,000 types of plants, which it sells to over 3,000 partners. The company has a permanent stock of 200,000 tons of seeds in which allows it to be prepared for any unexpected large orders from its customers.

The company has over 50 employees working in the wholesale and retail distribution of fodder and vegetable and flower seeds. The company"s portfolio includes prepackaged flower and vegetable seeds for amateur gardening, professional level vegetable seeds and dozens of spice herbs seeds. The products are either sold by amount or by the number of seeds. and come in bags or metallic boxes. The company also sells ornamental lawn, lawn turf for sunny and shaded areas, parks and sports fields.

Szell Alexandru said: "When I left the metallurgic plant in my native city, I"ve thought of providing gardening solutions, as this was one of the things my family was interested in. I created the company in 1998, and one year later I had my brother, Szell Levente join in me my incumbent business. In 1999, a verbal agreement with Danish company "Daehnfeldt" helped us enter the market of agricultural seeds distribution". Right now, the seeds that "Agrosel" sells are bought from the domestic market as well as from Holland, France, and Italy.

One of the major accomplishments of "Agrosel" is a project built "from the ground up" in 2006 including offices, warehouses and storage areas, with a gross built area of 3,300 sqm, with the complex now worth EUR 3 million, excluding fixed assets. The equipment is imported from Germany, and has a packaging capacity of 20 million bags and 1,000 tons of lawn and fodder.
