Former Antibiotice CEO, Ioan Nani, Becomes AVAS Vice President

Prime Minister Emil Boc has signed the appointment of Ioan Nani, the former CEO of Antibiotice - Iasi, as Vice President of the State Assets Recovery Authority (AVAS). "I have received the confirmation of my appointment as Vice President of AVAS. It has also been published in the Official Journal. By the end of this week, I will go to Bucharest to meet President Mircea Ursache and decide together on my future responsibilities. For the time being, I have not defined an action plan. My objectives will be derived from the strategy that AVAS will adopt as an institution, said AVAS Vice President Ioan Nani.

Nani became the CEO of Antibiotice in 1998 and managed the State-controlled pharmaceutical company until the end of April 2008. The former AVAS management blamed Nani for communication problems between the administrative management of Antibiotice S.A. and AVAS, the majority shareholder. In fact, the general impression in the economic and political circles in Iasi County is that Nani was dismissed from the management of Antibiotice S.A. because he had disapproved of the privatization method proposed by AVAS, although he never made his opinion public.
