Fortus Iasi has fulfilled all the requirements of the environment legislation conformation plans

Diana Croitoru, chief commissary for the Iasi Environment Guard, declared that SC "Fortus" SA Iasi has managed to fulfill all the requirements of conformation to the European environment legislation, and as a consequence the factory will not be having any problems in this area. "The inspection has shown the compliance plan measures were fulfilled, and as a consequence, the company will not be shut down", said Diana Croitoru. The only remaining steps "Fortus" will have to take by the end of the month are a series of investigations organized at the Ciurea defective warehouse, but these are minor investigations and not completing the program is out of the question. SC "Fortus" SA Iasi is at the top of the Iasi Environment Protection Agency"s "black list", as far as environment legislation alignment is concerned, with a conformation deadline of October 31st 2007. According to previous statements from engineer Adrian Chiran, who is responsible for environmental issues in Iasi, the whole platform of the Iasi factory owned a complete environmental authorization, even since 2006, and the plan involved the examination, this year in October, the stage of the conformation. The investments "Fortus" Iasi made in this area amounted to approximately one million EUR.

"Moldomobila" Iasi is also in a similar situation, a company which has already begun the acquiring environmental notice procedure for ceasing activity of several production units, in order to reduce the number of these units, and escape the conformation law. "None of the companies from Iasi which had as conformation deadline the end of October are currently at risk of being shut down due to environmental issues", added the chief commissary for the Iasi Environment Guard.

According to received data, there are other large companies that have benefited from a larger transition period regarding the environment legislation conformation. Such companies are "Avicola" Iasi, with a deadline at the end of 2009, SC ANTIBIOTICE SA, with a deadline at the end of 2010, and "Mittal Steel" SA Iasi and "Ceramica" Iasi, with a conformation deadline of 2012 and 2014.
