The financing Galati City Hall received following the proposed projects in order to access structural funds, amounts to 85 million lei. The funds were assigned to 15 projects that are currently in different stages of execution. Dumitru Nicolae, the mayor of Galati stated that: "The most important objectives regard the treatment of domestic water supplies and waste. As far as the domestic water treatment station is concerned, the construction has already begun, and the domestic waste project is at an advanced stage of completion. The buget contribution for the financing of these projects is 24 million lei."
The mayor also said that he proposed 21 more projects, hoping to receive structural funds, one of the more important ones being "The integrated development/regeneration plan". This plan is desired to be financed through the Regional Operational Programme (POR), Priority Axis 1 - The supporting of sustainable development of growing poly urban cities. The total value of the project amounts to 50 million EUR. "21 more projects are currently on roll in order to obtain financing and I believe that at least 10 of these will receive funding. We are interested in the rehabilitation of the old town, tram lines, the development of new parks and green areas", further added mayor Dumitru Nicolae.
