Local Couselors voted last week on the starting prices for the rental and concession of land and office space auctions. The highest prices were set for office spaces, taking into consideration the fact that only 853 sq.m. of the total 21.80 acre park area will be intended for office spaces. Rent for production spaces is also high, the Local Council setting the starting auction prices at 2 EUR/sq.m. The renting lot"s area is 147,724 sq.m., and the land price starts at 0.5 EUR/sq.m./month. As far as investors in the Industrial Park platforms are concerned, their bidding will start at 0.75 EUR/sq.m./month. On the other hand, investors in the Industrial Park will also have to pay, besides monthly rent, an additional 0.80 EUR/sq.m. for utilities such as water and sewerage, electricity, gas, telecommunications, and inner roads.
The number of jobs created is the main selection criteria for companies requesting space in the Industrial Park. At the same time, according to the number of the employees, investors will benefit of price reductions from 5%, this being the case of companies that hire over 50 people. The prices fixed at the auction will be lowered by 25% for companies that will create over 200 jobs.
The auctions will start by the end of this year, the Industrial Park being currently under construction. According to manager Viorel Munteanu, the Industrial Park is 50% complete. Dumitru Nicolae, the mayor of Galati stated that: "The location of the industrial park in the vicinity of the Republic of Moldova and the Ukraine"s borders is justified by the acces to DN 2B national road, and by the fact that railway transportation in the area is connected to the broad rail gauge used in CSI and some asian countries, as well as to standard european railways. Another advantage is the suspension bridge over the Danube that will be built approximately 15 km from the industrial park. Also, an important fact is that an international passenger and commercial airport is under construction, only 20 km from the park.
