In the first quarter of 2012, the FNGCIMM granted a total volume of guarantees of approximately 162 million Euros, an increase of almost 60% compared to last year similar period.
Nearly 2,200 SMEs benefited from these guarantees in the first part of the year, up 33 percent compared to the same period of last year, and the number of guarantees issued exceeds 2,400, up by about 36% compared to the first quarter of 2011. Comparative analysis of the two periods has also identified the continuation of the positive trend in accessing guarantees related to projects financed using European funds. Thus, in Q1 2012, the value of these guarantees doubled in comparison with the same period of the year 2011, reaching a level of more than 20 million Euros. A similar trend was seen in relation to the provision of guarantees for the implementation of government programs. Their value exceeded 32 million Euros, compared to 15 million euros in the first quarter of 2011. In the same context, the resumption of the activity of providing guarantees to SMEs under the Kogălniceanu program, starting in March 2012, has already resulted in support being provided to approximately 220 companies, which benefited from guarantees worth over 4 million Euros.
