The preparations for the construction of Serbia section of South Stream pipeline is on schedule, Gazprom considering that it's too early to speculate on a new route, state sources cited by Tanjug.
According to inserbia.info, the discussions related to the regulatory aspects of this project are still in progress at the local level as well as at the European level.
The Serbian press has recently reported that South Stream pipeline might pass through Turkey and Greece on the way to Italy and Austria, instead of crossing Bulgaria and Serbia, after the Bulgarian Minister of Energy decided to suspend all the works for this project by the time this project complies with the European regulations.
South Stream will start from Russia towards Bulgaria, under the Black Sea. From Bulgaria it will split into two - towards north, through Serbia, Croatia, Hungary, Slovenia, Austria, and towards south, towards Greece and the south of Italy. The submarine section between Russia and Bulgaria will be 900 km long. The pipeline's construction started in December 2012, the first supplies towards Europe being scheduled for December 2015. The project shareholders are: Gazprom, Eni, Wintershall Holding, EDF. Gazprom has already started up joint ventures with companies from Austria, Bulgaria, Croatia, Slovenia, Greece, Hungary and Serbia.
