General Electric has selected Romania for their first factory in SE Europe. The factory will manufacture aircraft engine components. GE Aviation and Turbomecanica SA founded the joint venture Turbomecanica Combustor Products (TMCP) as equal partners. GE recently bought out Turbomecanica.
The acquisition of Turbomecanica Combustor Products strengthens GE Aviation"s position in Europe and supports the sales and marketing effort on the engine front. TMCP manufactures combustion chambers for the CF34 and CFM56 engines. Other GE operations in Romania include GE Money, which last year acquired three non-banking financial service companies: Leasemart Holding (which owns Motoractive Leasing), Ralfi SA (Estima Finance) and Domenia Credit SA.
