Generali Asigurari"s Turnover Rises 41% in H1

Generali Asigurari posted gross underwritten premiums worth 189 million RON (60.3 million EUR) in the first six months of 2007, thus recording a 41% increase from 133.6 million RON in the same period last year, according to a company press release. The increase was mainly due to the advance of the auto, real estate and life insurance segments.

On the life segment, gross underwritten premiums totalled 27.7 million RON, up 54% from 18.1 million RON in the first half of 2006. Non-life gross underwritten premiums amounted to 161.3 million RON in H1, marking a 40% increase from 115.5 million RON in the same period last year.

Generali Asigurari expects to end the current year with profit, after having posted losses of nearly 10 million EUR in 2006.

The majority shareholder in Generali Asigurari is Generali Holding Vienna AG (83.56%), followed by Asigurare Reasigurare Astra SA (15.98%) and Centrocoop (0.13%).

Generali Asigurari, part of the international group Generali, operates a branch network consisting of 76 units and its portfolio includes all types of insurance.
