James Hubley will step down as chief executive of Romtelecom, as of February 1st, following an agreement between the two parties, and Georgios Ioannidis will take the reins of Romtelecom, according to a company press release.
Georgios Ioannidis previously held positions as chief executive officer of OTENET (since June 2000) and chief technical officer of OTE (since September 2004). Ioannidis is also on the Board of Directors of several companies in the OTE Group, including Romtelecom, since July 2006. Ioannidis began his career with OTE in 1975, as a telecommunications engineer. He held several positions in telecom maintenance, planning and telematics. In 1993 he departed OTE and took a position with Vodafone Greece as software engineering manager. In 1998, he took over as engineering manager and then chief technical officer of Cosmote.
Georgios Ioannidis was born in Istanbul, in 1950. He graduated Bosfor University in Istanbul in 1973, as electrical engineer. In 1973, he reiceived his masters from Lowell Technological Institute (now University of Massachusetts) in USA.
