Gorenje, a Slovenian appliances manufacturer, has reported a 27% increase in sales on the Romanian market in Q1:2007 and is planning to achieve a 15% growth across the year. Above-average results were logged on refrigerating equipment and cooking stoves.
"The development of the home appliances market so far supports my belief that sales will continue to grow steadily. Overall, 2006 sales gained 3.5% to 1,257,000 units. Gorenje sales continued to grow, too, according to GfK surveys. This year, we will introduce two new product ranges and add a new retail partner to our portfolio," said Tone Prislan, the CEO of Gorenje Romania.
Gorenje was established in Slovenia in 1950 as a farming machinery manufacturer, which later developed into an appliances manufacturer. The company was listed on the Ljubljana Stock Exchange in the "90s, shortly after privatization. Some 80% of the production is made in Slovenia, whereas the Czech Republic and Serbia account for the rest. Some 90% of the production is exported.
