Gral Medical a provider of private medical services, has prepared a development strategy focused on niche services. To support this strategy, the company will open five new medical centres countrywide concurrently with several specific projects in Bucharest. The first unit to open outside Bucharest is the Diagnostic Centre in Cluj, which will focus on laboratory tests, medical imagery and paraclinical investigations, the same as the clinic in Alba Iulia.

According to the figures for 2008, the company logged revenues of over 10 million EUR, in line with the initial budget, and a 20% profit rate. "Since our new strategy includes a 60% increase in turnover for 2009, we will take further responsibilities to fully anticipate the needs of our patients. Consequently, we will implement, for the first time in our company, a controlling system backed by an ERP application that is designed to optimize our processes and costs," said Gral Medical General Manager Georgeta Serban.

For 2009, Gral Medical intends to increase labour productivity from 30,000 EUR per employee in 2008 to 55,000 EUR per employee and to increase the profit rate from 20% to 30%. "In the eight years of our history on the Romanian medical services market, we, Gral Medical, have opened 12 medical centres, of which six in Bucharest, three in Prahova and one in each of Sibiu, Craiova and Pitesti. These facilities employ over 350 doctors and nurses," Serban concluded.
