Guaranteed Ciolacu: by the end of the year we enter Schengen and land

Politicians are very good at one thing: making promises. The current prime minister is no exception. Prime Minister Marcel Ciolacu stated that by the end of this year, Romania will join the Schengen Area and land, and from next year, Romanians will no longer need visas for the USA. Also, according to Ciolacu, from 2026, our country will join the OECD, which will bring the biggest investments: "Romania will enter the Schengen Area by air and sea in one month. Naturally, even greater attention will be needed, there will be greater challenges, being at the beginning. I guarantee you that by the end of this year, Romania will enter Schengen land. Next year, Romania will no longer have visas with America, and in 2026, Romania will enter the OECD, the most important project of the country is the accession to the OECD".

The prime minister explained in a TV show what the membership of the OECD means for Romania: "These are the most important things that the decision-makers in Romania have to do. In order to achieve these things, we need to make the reforms in the PNRR that overlap with the reforms for joining the OECD. At the moment we joined the OECD, Romania is next to all the developed countries in the world. Anyone can come to rule Romania, no one is going to turn Romania from its path, The biggest investments will come with the accession to the OECD, because it is a mechanism, it is upgraded like computer software, to be with the stripped states. This is the future of Romania". Also, the prime minister emphasized that Romania is an energy independent country and that it will be one of the biggest energy exporters in Europe. "We are energetically independent, we have faced all the current challenges, we have development through the PNRR, through the Environmental Fund, through the Modernization Fund, all ongoing. Romania will be one of the biggest energy exporters in Europe, green energy", added Marcel Ciolacu.

The prime minister also addressed domestic policy issues. Marcel Ciolacu explained that the administrative reform will be completed and that there can be no performance if the prime minister changes once every six months. About the Minister of Finance, Marcel Boloş said that he still makes mistakes, but that they are human and that he is not malicious: "The administrative reform will be completed. It is not that we will cut, the public system will finally be established on other bases. It is a reform expected for 30 years, Ciolacu cannot do it in 6 months. We created a legal framework, we started ministry by ministry, we will start agency by agency, company by company. it's a lasting thing, at least a year (...) Mr. Boloş also makes mistakes, with pistols, with all the thunder, they are human, but they are not fundamental mistakes, he is not a malicious person. It's horrible only when you imagine (that the ANAF come with a gun to the controls - n.r.). That's why we started digitization". The Prime Minister states that a stability of at least four years is needed: "That's why I'm talking about a stability of at least 4 years for Romania. We can no longer exchange awards annually, you can no longer have performance. Forget what it meant for at least 2 years to have a Minister for Transport, everything has been unlocked. You cannot change the Minister of Transport, the Minister of Finance every 6 months". Ciolacu emphasized that the Romanians will decide the fate of the country and that the leaders of the governing coalition only make political decisions.
