EnglishHidromecanica workers returned to work on Wednesday after three months of technical unemployment under Ordinance 28/2009 regulating fiscal incentives for companies that stop operations for up to three months in any given calendar year.
Ion Simion, Vice President of the Hidroforta Union, said that, although the workers had returned to work hoping to actually work, some of them would be sent back in technical unemployment. "I have received a list of 35 people plus another 10 people plus an unspecified number of foundry workers," he said.
In turn, Hidromecanica CEO Lorant Biro was unable to specify how many workers would resume work and how many would resume technical unemployment. "Depending on the actual staffing requirement of the factory, some people will work and some will be on stand-by and called back when needed. According to Article 53 of the Labour Code, the duration of technical unemployment is unspecified. It will last as long as needed," he said.
