EnglishThe 50% increase in the quantity of cheap energy provided by Hidroelectrica in the first half of the year contributed to the effort to maintain the price of electricity the same, Economy and Finance Minister Varujan Vosganian told a meeting at the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BSE) yesterday. According to Agerpres, he said that the price of electricity had remained unchanged between April 2007 and June 2008, despite the increase in the price of coal. Thus, cheap hydro power had helped offset the increase in some of the raw materials. Vosganian stressed that, on international markets, the price of energy had increased 44% in the said period.
