Upon invitation from Nuclearoelectrica S.A., the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) performed an evaluation of Romania"s Cernavoda Nuclear Plant on 2-6 June, primarily to ascertain how international standards are applied within radiation protection programs implemented at the plant. The matter of tritium exposure of population, personnel and environment was particularly scrutinized. The evaluation included both interviews with local responsibles and field trips and led to the conclusion that the Cernavoda Nuclear Plant has implemented and is observing good practices in the business. Generally, the report is positive and reveals no defficiencies in radiation protection plans and measures.
