Claudiu Stafie, Secretary of state in the Ministry of the Economy and Chairman of the Board of Administration of IAR Ghimbav, announced that the Braşov based helicopter maker will sign the agreement with "Premium Aerotec", in the coming days, in order to unlock the EUR 90 million investment in a plant that will make components for Airbus components.

Mr. Stafie said: "The Romanian authorities want to develop an aerospace technology park in Braşov. We have negotiated with Premium Aerotec for three months. The company, which is a member of EADS N.V., wants to build a plant that would make components for Airbus on a plot of land owned by IAR Ghimbav, by April 2010. The total investment will amount to EUR 92 million and will take place over three years. 300 people will be hired in the early three stages, and 700 people will be employed once the project is completed ".

The government has already approved a state guarantee of over 10 million Euros to back this project. The shareholders of the Braşov-based company last month greenlit the sale of a plot of land of 60 hectares on which the Premium Aerotec plant would be use. Premium Aerotec is owned 100% by EADS NV. The company has factories in Varel, Nordenham and Augsburg, in Germany.

IAR Ghimbav Braşov is a maker of helicopters controlled by the Romanian Ministry of the Economy, which holds a 64.89% stake in the company, and the remaining 35.11% are owned by other shareholders.
