Communication satellites have become crucial in today's world where access to the internet is desired even in the most remote corners. India is set to launch a communication satellite later this year using a Falcon-9 rocket from SpaceX, marking the country's first collaboration with one of Elon Musk's companies. Musk aims to expand his business ventures in this region. The high-capacity satellite will be launched to enhance broadband communications in India, particularly in isolated and unconnected regions of the country, according to a statement from NewSpace India Ltd (NSIL), the commercial arm of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO). The launch is scheduled for the second quarter of this year, as per NSIL. Weighing 4,700 kg, the satellite is 700 kilograms heavier than the maximum launch capacity of the Indian Space Research Organisation. Elon Musk aims to bring his Starlink satellite network's communication services to India and is also discussing the possibility of opening a Tesla electric vehicle manufacturing plant in the country.
