ING Asigurari de Viata Posts 43% Lower Profit in H1

ING Asigurari de Viata posted a gross profit of 4 million EUR in the first half of 2007, down 43% from 7 million EUR in the same period last year, while turnover rose by 20%, according to ING Group"s financial report. The insurer reported a gross profit of 2 million EUR for the second quarter of the year, down 50% from 4 million EUR in the year-ago quarter.

ING Asigurari de Viata posted gross underwritten premiums worth 71 million EUR in the first six months of 2007, recording a 20% increase from 59 million EUR in the same period last year, according to data published by ING Group. In the second quarter of the year, gross underwritten premiums totalled 37 million EUR, up by 27.58% from 29 million EUR in the year-ago quarter.

The parent company ING Group NV posted a net profit of 2.56 billion EUR in the second quarter of 2007, recording a 27% rise from 2 billion EUR in the same period last year. N the second quarter of the year, ING opened 9 new units in Romania and currently operates a branch network consisting of 123 units in our country.
