ING Life Insurance (ING Asigurari de Viata in Romania), the life insurance arm of ING Group, is planning to inaugurate a service centre for Central European countries in Cluj Napoca, Romania, next year to centralize several financial, IT and operational functions, according to a press release to BURSA.
Marketing and sales activities will remain local in each country in the region. The Romanian customers of ING Life Insurance will not be affected by this change.
The insurer explained that the regional service centre will cover all the countries in the scope of ING Life Insurance - Central Europe, that is, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Poland, Hungary and Romania. The centre is intended to rationalize operations in the area and reduce the cost of life insurance policies.
The first countries in Central Europe to relocate some of their operational, financial and IT functions to Cluj Napoca are the Czech Republic and Slovakia. The transition will begin in the final quarter of 2010, the press release further indicates.
The establishment of the service centre is part of a regional project started by ING Life Insurance - Central Europe in 2008 to improve customer service and increase the efficiency of life insurance operations, the press release informs.
