EnglishBucharest City Hall decided last year to extend the Urban Data Bank by adding necessary information in order to generate the navigation map for urban traffic. To reach this goal, minimal information is needed regarding traffic restrictions that have an impact on traffic navigation, usually traffic signs and lights.
Currently, film shootings are done on approximately 3.000 km of road arteries and the project will be finalized in 3-4 months.
Following a public auction, the contract to create the digital map was awarded to \"Interfraph Computers Services\" SRL. The 2.2 Mln RON contract was signed in November 2006.
Among the benefits of this project there is the minimizing of response time for emegency units, the creation of an information support for modern urban traffic management and the shaping of necessary decisions in order to increase traffic fluidity and to have better traffic management.
Also, the navigation map will provide updated information regarding traffic restrictions due to authorized road infrastrucure works, as well as information related to detour routes in case of traffic congestion and emergencies.
