Interamerican Romania posted gross underwritten premiums worth 36.685 million RON (11.7 million EUR) in the first half of 2007, recording a 30% increase from the same period last year, according to a company press release.
On the life insurance segment, gross underwritten premiums amounted to 16.486 million RON, thus marking a 21% increase year-on-year. Investment-related life insurance premiums rose by 63% in the first six months. The health insurance segment recorded the highest growth, namely 202% yoy.conform datelor companiei.
On the general insurance segment, gross underwritten premiums totalled 20.199 million RON, up 36% from the same period last year. The car insurance segment recorded a 27% increse year-on-year.
The Romanian insurer is a subsidiary of Greece"s Interamerican Group, which was taken over in 2001 by the Eureko Group BV, based in the Netherlands. Eureko holds 92.38% in Interamerican Group. Interamerican Romania ended 2006 with gross underwritten premiums worth 53.162 million RON, up 14% year-on-year.
