"Air France-KLM" and "Japan Airlines" Corp. (JAL) are considering the creation of a joint venture for to pool their operations between France and Japan, according to daily La Tribune, quoting anonymous sources from inside "Air France". According to the French daily, the partnership would be similar to the one between "Air France" and "Delta Air Lines" Inc. in the US, on the routes across the Atlantic.

The officials of "Air France" made the following statement: "We deny any talks on the creation of a mixed company with JAL".

In turn, JAL, which entered bankruptcy in January, said that the information in La Tribune was not true. "We have no intention of exploring a joint venture", JAL officials said.

The news of a possible joint venture came two weeks after "Japan Airlines" decided to join the Oneworld alliance, instead of joining rival group SkyTeam, of which "Air France" is also a member.
