LaborMed Group, one of the leading producers of generic drugs in Romania, represented by its subsidiary, Ozone Laboratories, has bought 12 brands of phytotherapeutic products from the Cluj-based pharmaceutical company PlantExtrakt: Imunogrip, Imunorezistan, Artrophyt, Donavital, Sabalit, Sediphyt, Energotonic, Antialcool Plant, Antitabac Plant, Giardinophyt, Nicotan and Omega3.
The 12 brands constitute the entire phytotherapeutic portfolio of PlantExtrakt and will be added to the Ozone Natural Division of Ozone Laboratories to bring further consolidation to this business unit.
By this move, LaborMed Group is continuing their expansion on the national and regional pharmaceutical market by taping the segments for natural remedies and preventive medicine. PlantExtrakt is the second acquisition concluded by LaborMed, one month after securing the portfolio of Ozone brands of OTC and Rx products, which are currently marketed in Romania, Poland, Hungary, Bulgaria, the Czech Republic and Slovakia.
LaborMed has retained the services of PlantExtrakt for continuing to produce and deliver the 12 brands after the change of ownership. LaborMed Group"s strategy is to operate on three distinct business units: LaborMed Pharma for prescription drugs (Rx), Ozone for generic over-the-counter drugs (OTC) and Ozone Natural for medicines derived from plants. LaborMed Group is controlled by Advent International, a leading private equity firm worldwide. The value of the deal remained confidential.
