LaborMed Pharma posted sales of 26 million EUR (+33%) for 2006, climbing above the overall market indices (33% compared to 23% in terms of value and 21% compared to 7% in terms of volume). The company therefore advanced to the top 15 pharmaceutical companies in Romanian and remained the only local private drug maker in this top.
"The 2006 results enable us to be optimistic about 2007, which will being forth a number of premieres for LaborMed Pharma. Many of the investments we made in 2006 were focused on finalizing the most modern drug factory in Romania, which we started in 2005.
"The factory will be commissioned in the second half of the year. We also intend to introduce seven new prescription drugs following intense investment in research. Last year we invested 7% of our revenues in research," said Xeni-Camelia Dicu, the CEO of LaborMed Pharma. The new factory will enable the company to produce 1.5 billion pills per year, which is almost five times more than the Y2006 output.
