The Portuguese-based contractor Lena, currently building the road tunnel near the Baneasa Airport, as asked for a 5 million RON (1.4 million EUR) budget increment in order to finish the work. The money is necessary for moving some electricity cables and building elevated pedestrian bridges, Transportation Ministry officials said

According to Agerpres, the original design indicated that pedestrians should also use the underground way to cross the intersection, but the presence of numerous utilities networks (public lighting, sewerage and rainwater drainage) required for a change of design in the form of elevated, above-ground pedestrian bridges. The overall bill will stand at some 48 million RON, after the money for the construction was allocated as an extension of the initial project to build three lanes per direction and two bridges.
