Libra Bank concluded last year with some 3.13 million RON (866,700 EUR) in profit after having reported losses of 19.6 million RON (5.7 million EUR) in 2006, according to Marketing Manager Alina Vasile quoted by NewsIn.
After having posted losses for three consecutive years as a result of provisions and the expansion of the branch network, Libra Bank went back in black in 2007, following intense development of the offer to liberal professionals.
"Loans granted to liberal professionals last year amounted to 83.6 million RON, equal to 31.78% of the overall volume of issued loans," she said. Estimates for this year point to a 50% increase on this segment. The bank"s loan portfolio comprises liberal professionals (30%), companies (47%) and individuals (23%).
The bank"s net asset value gained over 25% in 2007 to 634.38 million RON (175.72 million EUR), up from 506.5 million RON (149.7 million EUR) at the end of 2006. The bank has 20 branches and is planning to open another 10 in 2008. Libra Bank is controlled by New Century Holdings.
