The world is constantly changing, and libraries are no exception. The Association of Librarians from Romania (ABR), in collaboration with the "Lucian Blaga" University Library from Sibiu and other partners, organizes from September 3 to 6 the XXXIVth edition of the National Conference of the ABR, with the theme "Library - of to traditional to artificial intelligence". The event will explore the transition of libraries from their traditional role to the integration of advanced technologies such as artificial intelligence (AI). The conference will be officially opened on September 4, but the day before, on September 3, a satellite event will take place where state-of-the-art technical solutions will be presented in an informal setting. The director of the "Lucian Blaga" University Library in Sibiu, Valer Simion Cosma, emphasized the importance of integrating AI solutions into the activity of libraries, noting that they are not just information repositories, but have an essential role in supporting innovation and expanding access to knowledge. He highlighted that although there is a popular perception that libraries are institutions of the past, they are in fact fundamental in supporting modern research and education. One of the important moments of the conference will be the presentation of the general director of Agerpres, Claudia Nicolae, entitled "From paper to algorithms: Keepers of knowledge - journalism and libraries - in the era of artificial intelligence. Common challenges and opportunities". It will address the links between journalism and libraries in the context of the transformations brought about by AI.
