Given the harsh economic conditions forecasted for 2009, "Loris Baby"s Land", sales manager, Mrs. Alina Al Khatib, considers that the next year will be one of market stabilization: "A significant boost to our business could come from the law concerning the new revenues to be granted to would-be mothers coming into force. It would mean an additional revenue for families with children, it would increase their purchasing power and it would give Romanian children the opportunity to have only have available products which meet the European quality standards. This law might also increase the birthrate in Romania, as it is well known that the year of 2008 saw the lowest birthrate in the last 20 years".
Currently, a lot of Asian products which are not tested and do not meet the standards for child products are coming into the market. That would mean, for instance, in car seats, meeting the TÜV-Germany standards, which have strict crash testing parameters and which are currently ignored by their retailers. Alina Al Khatib claims that not importing Chinese products is not a fad, but rather a request for strict regulations concerning child"s merchandise, toy varnish and dye, clothing colorants.
Starting this year we have also added Stokke of Norway, the most luxurious stroller brand along with those made by Shelcore USA with a comprehensive array of products for children 0-3 years old".
Over one million euros have been invested in the company, in 2007 and 2008, for the outfitting of three "VIP-Bébé" stores in district 1, 2, 3 of Bucharest. The investments were only used for the fit out of the three stores, without including the merchandise inventory. In the future, the company"s managers intend to create a national network, which would only sell child-safe products.
"Loris Baby"s Land" offers its customers, which are mostly people with average and above average income, a host of facilities: fidelity program with discount cards, free shipping and delivery for orders which exceed a certain amount, providing a list of things needed for pregnant women and their babies, the organization of relaxation areas while counseling the mothers inside the stores etc.
Alina Al Khatib stated: "We sell games, clothing, furniture for the children"s rooms and child and infant care items (strollers, child car seats, table seats, child bathtubs, intercoms, humidifiers, sterilizers, comforters etc.). The company sells clothing for children from 0-4 years of age, and the games for children from 0-10 years old. On average, our shops stock around 5000 items".
Mrs. Al Khatib further stated : "Apart from our own outlets, we supply our products to retail networks, specialized shops all across Romania and through the premaman distribution network. Concerning toys, we have imported all that can help educate children, for boys as well as girls, and we have the largest supply of logical games, construction and skill games. We stock games which can stimulate children"s various abilities, help them make word, color and shape associations, develop their sensory, tactile and olfactory functions".
The managers of "Loris Baby"s Land" expand their portfolio by following the products and novelties shown in the greatest specialized fair, which is held in Köln, every summer. This year"s novelty was the introduction of the Stokke brand in the company"s product catalog.
