Insurance companies owned in Romania by Vienna Insurance Group recorded gross subscribed premiums of 134.5 million Euros, down 7% over the corresponding period of last year, and the losses of the group on the Romanian market fell to 2.7 million Euros.
In the first three months of 2011, Austrian company Vienna Insurance Group (VIG) had gross subscribed premiums of 144.5 million Euros and a loss of 5 million Euros in Romania.
In Romania, VIG controls four insurance companies, namely Asirom, Omniasig, BCR Asigurări and BCR Asigurări de Viaţă.
The companies owned by VIG in Romania reported net subscribed premiums of 118.1 million Euros in Q1 2012, down 11% from 133 million Euros in Q1 2011.
On the general insurance segment, the gross subscribed premiums of the Romanian companies of the group fell to 106.8 million Euros, following the restructuring of the portfolio, a press release sent by VIG to our editors states.
In the area of life insurance, the premiums rose slightly, to 27.7 million Euros.
VIG is present in Austria, Romania, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia and other countries in Eastern Europe.
In the first quarter, the Group recorded gross subscribed premiums of 2.7 billion Euros, up 5.5% YOY. The net profit rose 3.6%, to 119.8 million Euros.
