Imported Gas Price Down 25%

The National Energy Regulatory Authority (ANRE) monitoring report on the gas market in April indicates that natural gas was imported for 34.93 USD/MWh, by nearly 25% less than in the first quarter of the year. The report also indicates that the overall natural gas consumption in April was approximately 8.3 million MWh, half as much as in March. Of this volume, 81.86% was covered by domestic production and 18.14% from imports.

The chemical industry required 18% of the total volume of natural gas consumed in April, while the production of electric and thermo energy took 23.12%. Households accounted for 22.27% of the overall consumption, while commercial consumers took 5.19%. Other industrial consumers required 17.62%, while technological consumption amounted to 10%. Petrom provided 61.58% of the domestic production, while Romgaz gave 34.93%.

Romgaz had a 33.7% share of the unregulated gas market in April. Petrom came second with 29.6% of the market via Petrom S.A., Petrom Sucursale and Petrom Gaz. Distrigaz Sud came third with 12.4%, followed by E.ON Gaz Romania with 6.1% and Interagro with 6.3%. On the regulated market, Distrigaz Sud secured a share of 62.6%, followed by E.ON Gaz Romania with 29.5%.
