Mario Draghi's sobriety ruined by a blonde

On the table of Mario Draghi, the president of the European Central Bank (ECB), jumped a blonde lady, during the press conference held yesterday in Frankfurt, and she "attacked" him by throwing confetti on him and started shouting "End the ECB dicktatorship!"(sic!) as she was pulling down the zipper of her jacket, to display the t-shirt she was wearing underneath, which had the same thing written on it, in white letters, with the only difference being that the last word had been split with a dash: "dick-tatorship".

Mario Draghi raised his hands, scared by the lady's athletic jump, who showed a remarkable prowess, jumping from the floor straight on the desk in front of him.

As she was being immobilized, the lady was displaying a radiating good mood, yelping in pleasant surprise as she was raised by her legs, to be evacuated from the room in a horizontal position.

The police was going to investigate how the blonde ended up in a conference, given the strict security measures passed as a result of the lack of popularity of the European Central Bank, which became extremely visible at the recent inauguration in Frankfurt of the new ECB headquarters, last month, when the ceremony had to be guarded by massive police forces from the thousands of protesters - an even which resulted in cars set on fire and brawls.

Nobody was hurt during yesterday's incident and the president of the ECB resumed his speech.

Mario Draghi said that the ECB does not intend to downscale or reduce the recently stopped quantitative easing program (asset acquisitions).

In March, the bank began its purchases of 60 billion Euros a month, hoping that in doing so, it would stimulate the economy of the Eurozone and avoid a deflationary spiral.

"The implementation of the quantitative easing program is going on without issues. It is clear that the monetary policy measures which we have passed are effective", said Mario Draghi, who also stressed that he was surprised at the speculations concerning a possible end of the program.

"Our attention will focus on the complete implementation of the monetary policy measures. The acquisitions are intended to run until the end of September 2016, or until we see a sustained adjustment of the trajectory of inflation, which would match our goal: an inflation close to 2%, in the medium term".

Yesterday, the ECB decided to keep the policy rate at a historic low of 0.05%, as analysts were expecting.

The latest modification of the key policy rate by the ECB took place in September 2014, when the institution cut it to 0.05%, from 0.15%.

In the beginning of March, in the press conference in Nicosia (Cyprus), Mario Draghi was admonished by outraged veteran journalist Aristidis Vikettos, a correspondent of the Athens Press Agency, who accused Draghi of only having taken questions from his "own" journalists.

The explanation for Draghi being left speechless (live) was that he didn't speak Greek.

Although the translator's headphones were right next to him.
