EnglishThe Portuguese-based Martifer SGPS announced that their division Eviva SGPS has completed the acquisition of several energy producers based in Poland, Romania and Slovakia for a total of 19.2 million EUR. Martifer announced the Portuguese Securities Commission that they had acquired 40% in Eviva SA (Poland), 39.68% in Eviva Energy SRL (Romania), 40% in Eviva SRO (Slovakia) and 33% in Eviva Hidro SRL (Romania).
According to Eviva SA (Portugal), Eviva Energy SRL and Eviva SRO (Slovakia) are developing energy production projects totaling 897 megawatts, whereas Eviva Hidro SRL owns several hydro electric energy production assets in Romania.
Martifer entered the Romanian market in 2005 and announced plans to invest nearly 140 million EUR in energy, construction and real estate to achieve a turnover of 200 million EUR in 2008. Petrom announced in April 2007 that they would buy some 20,000 tons of biodiesel from Prio Biocombustibil (Martifer Group) in 2007 and 50,000 tons in 2008.
