Microsoft Romania, the local subsidiary of the world"s largest provider of software, IT services and Internet-based technologies, concluded last year with a turnover of 109,960,120 RON, up by 34.4% from the 81,778,180 RON reported for 2007, according to company information published on the website of the Finance Ministry, NewsIn reported. The net profit increased by 3.2% last year from 18,662,673 RON in 2007 to 19,266,572 RON in 2008, according to the data reported to the Finance Ministry.
Microsoft (NASDAQ:MSFT), the world"s largest provider of software, IT services and Internet-based technologies for personal and business computers, was established in 1975 and became present on the Romanian market in the early 1990s. Microsoft Romania was officially inaugurated on 4 December 1996.
For the fiscal year that ended in June 2009, the US-based corporation reported their first decrease in annual sales, by 3.3% to 58.4 billion USD. The recession also caused a decrease in online advertising prices, causing the Microsoft division specialized in this segment to report a 13% decrease in sales to 731 million USD.
