Discussions between cultural trade unions and authorities seem to be constructive. Minister Raluca Turcan announced that by the end of January, evaluations and simulations will take place to develop the necessary legislative proposals and ensure a "fair" salary in the cultural field, as agreed with the unions in the sector.
The minister announced: "We had the second meeting of the year with the representatives of the unions at the Government. The new round of discussions took place against the need to find legal solutions to eliminate salary inequalities affecting personnel in museums and other accredited institutions, as well as to stop the migration of qualified personnel to more lucrative fields. By consensus, we agreed that, by the end of January, we would carry out all the necessary evaluations and simulations to develop the necessary legislative proposals and ensure fair remuneration in the cultural field."
Raluca Turcan expressed her belief that through motivating salaries and much better-defined performance criteria for each employee, specialists in the cultural sector will be retained. At the same time, young people will be encouraged to choose a career in the field, and the efficiency of cultural institutions' activities will be enhanced.
